1. Introduction
At Mulberry Grove Clinic, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive environment for all individuals engaging with our therapeutic and coaching services. This policy outlines how we safeguard both children and adults at risk.

2. Statement of Commitment
We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and are fully committed to protecting the welfare of all clients. We work in line with UK legislation and best practice guidance, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and the Care Act 2014.

3. Scope
This policy applies to all services delivered by Mulberry Grove Clinic, including therapy, coaching, and consultancy sessions conducted in person or online.

4. Safeguarding Lead

5. Types of Abuse Recognised
We are alert to a broad range of potential abuse including:

  • Physical, emotional, sexual abuse

  • Neglect and self-neglect

  • Financial or material abuse

  • Discriminatory abuse

  • Domestic abuse

  • Psychological and organisational abuse

6. Responsibilities
As a practitioner:

  • I maintain up-to-date Level 3 safeguarding training

  • I clearly explain the limits of confidentiality to all clients

  • I take appropriate, proportionate action in the event of any safeguarding concerns

  • I store all safeguarding records securely and confidentially

7. Confidentiality and Information Sharing
Confidentiality is maintained at all times except where there is a risk of serious harm or legal obligation to share information. I only share information with relevant authorities on a need-to-know basis.

8. Responding to Concerns
If I become aware of a safeguarding concern:

  • I document it factually and promptly

  • I assess the level of immediate risk

  • I will contact the relevant safeguarding authority, such as the local safeguarding board or police, if needed

  • In the case of a child or adult at immediate risk, I will contact emergency services

9. Record Keeping
All safeguarding concerns are recorded clearly and securely, in accordance with data protection regulations and professional guidelines. These records are retained for an appropriate period and are not shared without lawful reason.

10. Online Safety
I take measures to ensure online sessions are conducted safely, including:

  • Using secure platforms (e.g. Zoom with password protection)

  • Checking the client’s environment is safe and private

  • Ensuring any session involving children has guardian oversight if applicable

11. Review of Policy
This policy is reviewed annually or in response to any changes in legislation, practice guidance, or incident feedback.
